Clients' bookkeeping in one place, with an app and AI.

Fidessa handles the bookkeeping for its clients in Exact Online. I built a platform around it: a web portal for the office and its clients, a mobile app for receipts and questions, and a connection that lets AI assistants look up a client's figures.

01 — The question

Less back and forth with clients.

An accounting office spends a lot of time on the work around the bookkeeping: chasing receipts and invoices, working out which entry belongs to which payment, and keeping clients informed about their figures. Fidessa wanted to streamline that without moving away from Exact Online.

02 — Web portal

Exact Online, plus everything around it.

The platform synchronises the data from Exact Online for each client administration: open receivables and payables, open queries, the profit and loss account and bank balances. Around that sit the parts Exact does not have: custom data tables per client, incoming documents that are passed on to Exact and Dropbox, invoices and payment links.

03 — Mobile app

Scan a receipt and you're done.

Clients get an app for iOS and Android. They take a photo of a receipt or invoice, and it lands in their bookkeeping straight away. In the same app they answer open queries, check entries and look at their results.

04 — AI connection

Ask Copilot or Claude.

For the office, I built a secured, read-only API plus an MCP server. With it, Microsoft Copilot and Claude can look up a client's figures. A staff member asks, for example, which of a client's invoices are still open, or how revenue develops per quarter, and gets the answer straight from the bookkeeping.

  • Read-only: the AI cannot change or book anything.
  • Access with a dedicated key, separate from staff accounts.

05 — Stack
